His Excellency, the Govenor, Hong Kong rc?
IR | JAN 38
Head Quarters,
Hong Kong, 13th August 1897.
Your Excellency,
In reply to Your Excellency's letter of 5th
instant No.114/G, I have the honour to state that if Your
Excellency's Government construct the road between Wanchai
and Wong-nei-Chong Gaps at the expense of the Colony I
shall recommend that the War Department relinquish the
Military Reserve above the 800 feet contour of Mount
Cameron, on the following understanding:
1.
That the road be not less than 12 feet broad.
A width of 15 feet would be better.
2.
That a few eligible sites for field guns be re-
served for our use in places which we will select near the
line of the road.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your Excellency's obedient Servant,
(Signed)
W.Black.
Major General. Commdg. in China.
